We are buzzing to announce the launch of a new area of our business: WeDo HR. After a busy year supporting businesses with invoice finance, back office support and funding; we are thrilled to announce that we now offer HR support!
WeDo HR is headed up by Sarah Cook. Sarah has decades of entrepreneurial and HR experience gained working for organisations such as Thomas Cook, Business Link, Bibby Financial Services and more. She’s passionate about organisational culture, growth and development.
Here’s Sarah to talk about the start of WeDo HR:
The last year has been a whirlwind for everybody, myself included! I found myself made redundant last December and was taking some time to think about my next challenge. I’d held a number of HR Director roles across sectors like pharmaceuticals, engineering and finance; but it felt like it was time to think about what I could do differently.
I started my career with Thomas Cook. As Branch Manager, I held responsibility for the running of the store. This included managing finances, recruiting team members and overall HR responsibility. From this role, I moved into several project management positions at the Head Office which included rolling out the organisation’s leadership and development training.
After leaving Thomas Cook, I worked for Business Link, a government-funded organisation supporting small to medium-sized enterprises. That role meant that I worked with a number of businesses by supporting their growth and development. I worked with the Investors in People standard to support these businesses to grow sustainably with strong leadership. I guess you could say, this is where I first caught the ‘buzz’ for HR. (Forgive me, I’m trying to get used to the bee puns!)
I won’t delve into too much more of my career, or else I’ll expect the big red ‘This Is Your Life’ book coming out, but I will say that if I had to pick two key themes they would be working with entrepreneurial growing businesses and a focus on quality service. When I spoke to Mark from WeDo (who I’d worked with previously at Bibby), and he presented the challenge of WeDo HR Support, it seemed like a perfect fit. We’d worked together successfully before and I’m looking forward to doing that again.
