Congratulations to all of Team WeDo who raised over £1300 for Cancer Research UK by taking part in Manchester’s Pretty Muddy 2022.

The Pretty Muddy is a 5k muddy obstacle course that everyone, no matter their fitness level, can take part in! Participants climb, crawl and slide their way to help beat cancer. After all, we all have a reason to Race for Life!

The Team

Our amazing team consisted of:

Wendy Woolley

Amy Williams

Francesca Entwistle

Henry Bleasdale

Jacqui Cryer

Kelly Tighe

Keri-Ann Wilson

Olivia Nolan

Tom Mercer

The Course

The 5k Pretty Muddy course took in a scenic route of Heaton Park, Manchester. The race sees a few bumps, hills, paths and of course – mud!

Along the way, there were a mixture of obstacles including inflatables, climbing, crawling and mud!

Money Raised

Overall, the team hit an incredible £1300, which WeDo have agreed to match!

Here is an idea of what that money will mean to Cancer Research UK.

£5 kits out one of our ground-breaking research labs with essential chemicals – the bread and butter of day-to-day experiments, helping to beat cancer sooner.

£50 buys special restriction enzymes that work like molecular scissors to cut up the long strands of DNA in our cells

£100 buys a Bunsen burner – a simple item that helps CRUK scientists ignite ground-breaking research on a daily basis.

£200 helps fund a postdoc researcher – developing their skills in the lab under the supervision of expert scientists.

£400 is the cost of running Cancer Chat for one day, helping thousands of people through very difficult times.

£1,000 helps fund Dr Gerhardt Attard and his team as they research how prostate cancer develops resistant to treatments for one day.

Thank You

Thank you to everybody who took part and who sponsored us!

Cancer survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. Consistent progress is being made but improvements to technology and ground-breaking work offer new opportunities to find different ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer and improve survival rates even further

1 in 2 people will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Every single pound you donate makes a difference to Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work.
