Jim McDonnell joined WeDo Finance in May 2021, building on his buzzing career in the Financial Services industry. Jim is experienced in providing excellent invoice financing and future funding solutions to clients. He has an in-depth knowledge of the finance sector and a Masters Degree in Maths from the University of Liverpool.

He fitted straight into the team at WeDo Finance with his first deal landing just two weeks into his role – securing future growth funding for a haulage company with ambitious plans.

We chatted to Jim to find out more about him and the relationships he has with our clients.

What drew you to joining WeDo Finance?

WeDo Finance excited me as it is a growing company within the market and has made a name for itself as a transparent, straightforward funder for businesses. I wanted to be a part of the sustainable growth plans to help drive new business within WeDo Finance by providing simple, easy-to-understand facilities to businesses that have the same ambitions to grow.

WeDo Finance is part of the WeDo Group and provides more than just recruitment finance. I was taken aback by the other products the group offers such as trade finance, outsourcing payroll, HR services and investing in start-up businesses. Ultimately, WeDo can offer the full back office and support package to allow entrepreneurs to concentrate on driving new business.

An important part of the company I choose to work for is how they treat their staff. Previous colleagues of mine had moved over to WeDo Finance and could not speak highly enough about this. WeDo Finance has made me feel extremely welcome and has given me the tools to succeed in the role which I am very grateful for.

Everyone in the team has the same drive to make the company successful and I am excited to be part of this formidable team!

What’s a typical day in your role?

This differs from day-to-day depending on where each business application is up to. It can range from meeting potential new clients to talk to them about how WeDo Finance can support them through future growth plans, to writing new business reports for our underwriters to review.

Each prospective client I meet has different requirements and it is vital to understand the individual clients to ensure a finance facility can be tailor-made to accommodate their business needs. I believe the personal approach is always the best way and therefore like to meet each client to build a relationship to build trust, not only for the facility they require now but for any other future finance requirements they may have.

What do the next few months and years look like for you at WeDo?

Over the next few months, I want to continue meeting new clients with ambitious plans for growth and supporting them with easy-to-understand facilities. I want to diversify my network and meet up with introducers I have not seen in a while now the UK is moving out of lockdown.

My plans over the next few years are definitely based at WeDo Finance and to progress further in my sales career.

What sort of businesses do you want to meet?

I would like to meet businesses that range in size from new starts to SMEs in the recruitment, haulage and engineering sector which have future growth plans. I know that

with growth comes the stress of cash flow to be able to pay wages, for fuel or materials and I know that WeDo can support with these things.

What do you do outside of work?

I enjoy meeting new people and socialising with friends. I am also a keen runner and I like to run 5km at least three times a week to keep fit.

Describe WeDo in one sentence!

A transparent funder who looks after clients and colleagues alike, and does more than you expect!
